Estate Planning Review: How Often?

Estate Planning Review: How Often?

Often, I’m asked how frequently should one review their estate planning?

Within my office, I like to touch base with my clients at least every five years. However, individuals should review their estate plan on the occurrence of these events:

  • Your children are now adults, no longer minors.
  • A death of a spouse or child.
  • A significant financial change in the estate.
  • A child has been determined eligible for disability payments.
  • You have received an inheritance.
  • An adoption in the family.
  • A divorce.
  • A marriage.
  • A birth.
  • Your estate plan was drafted prior to 2008.
